For a friend whom I've known from a time long ago, for whom even daylight feels like night. I'm remembering you in my ever-continual whispers. I feel deeply for what you're going through. And so I pray:

Be present, O merciful God,
and protect us through the silent hours of this night;
So that we, who are wearied by the changes and chances of this fleeting world,
may repose upon your eternal changelessness;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
