Doctoral Thesis
I've always wondered how it'd feel like when I arrived at the tail end of my doctoral writing.
After five years, I'm now working on my final 5,000 words to make up 100,000. Final chapter.
So this is how it feels like. Hmm...

It's like how a runner feels towards the final lap of his race. And yet, it feels like this is just the beginning of the journey.

LOL, did you take the pictures of those manuscripts yourself?

Good work!!! Am sooooo proud of you ;) BTW, I just learnt over the weekend that doctoral students do a dissertation, while masters students do a thesis. I've always thought that those words were used interchangeably!

Hi Charis,
You're proud of me ah? *blush*
I never thought someone else would observe the difference in the usage between "thesis" and "dissertation"! I thought I was the only strange creature around... apparently not, HAHA!
According to my "research findings" (:p), in America (and probably in Canada), masters students write a thesis whilst PhD students write a dissertation.
In Britain, masters students write a dissertation whilst PhD students write a thesis.
Strange huh? But nowadays, it's most often used interchangeably. I have this strange notion playing in my head that "dissertation" sounds more American to me and "thesis" sounds more British - but this is really humbug! Kekeke.

Aiyoh, I find writing 15000 words so difficult, i can't imagine 100,000! Congrats.
From a lowly Masters student. :-p

Congratulations, Dr Sherman Quek. I hope it will prove to be a great contribution to the Singapore church's self understanding. When is the book version coming out?

Thank you all! It's not like I've already finished my entire thesis and qualified to receive the degree, haha... I'm only at the verge of completion; and for as long as it's not fully completed, I'll be at the verge of completion!
The book version? I'm not so sure anyone would want to publish this. I'd be ecstatic if someone did though.

I could feel depressed or I could just vicariously leech off of your progress. I think the latter is more commendable.
And I did a dissertation in my masters in England, and now I'm doing my dissertation in my doctorate in US. I have never done a thesis.
