Life's Negotiations

Life consists of a series of negotiations.

There must be a negotiation between that which is desired and that which is possible.

Human desire is such that we always desire what is not possible or is utterly difficult to attain. That is what makes it so desirable in the first place.

Much of life, then, involves managing that tension between our desires and what life offers.

The sooner we learn to do so, the sooner we become happier people.

Thank you Sherman for the talk at St Joseph yesterday.
It was very interesting and as I mentioned to you yesterday, I find that the whole history of Christianity (after Christ), to be quite tragic. Christians against Christians and more often than not, blood is shed. All this for pride, power and greed. The fundamental teachings of our Saviour, i.e., spreading the Word, compassion, love and forgiveness for our neighbours, were clearly disregarded during those turbulent times.

Disagreements still exists today minus the blood shedding ( I think), though there are some signs of reconcilliation on the part of the major Christian denominations.

Nevertheless, your talk has brought me to a further understanding of Christianity and its weaknesses (or some of it) and I look forward to attending the remaining 7 sessions.

God Bless and thank you for the the good work.

I am a Catholic and a sinner.

Patrick
